What?! Life is imperfect?!
As a high achiever and recovering perfectionist I struggle with allowing things to just be ‘good enough’. I have definitely loosened up over the past few years – having a business that requires me to draw events LIVE with permanent markers sort of requires it.
But sometimes I still need a reminder and this time the reminder was a breathe of fresh air. The past few weeks I have been working on a logo design for a local flower shop Christopher’s/Petal Pushers. The owner is fun, vibrant and a total go-with-the-flow type of person. I knew she needed the logo displayed on an outdoor wooden sign so I was trying to be conscious of how it would be applied. As I discussed with her which option would work she made a comment that has stuck with me. Her decision was to paint the logo on the sign and she said “I like when things are organic. Flowers are organic and imperfect – life is imperfect. So it makes sense that the sign reflect what my business is about.” Huh – she was totally right!
Even though it seemed backwards for me at first, I really enjoyed the process of painting the sign this past week. Normally I create the imperfect visuals by hand and then ‘clean them up’ as a more refined digital image, but this time I experienced the reverse. It was very freeing and made me think a bit on where else I could let life be as it is – organic and imperfect.
Is there any thing in your life needing to remain imperfect?

If you want to see the sign I painted – stop at the flower shop and you will seeing it hanging outside! You can check out Christopher’s/Petal Pushers here too –> www.christophersflowerspa.com or here www.facebook.com/petal.pushers.77
Love this one, Em! Words to live by… life is imperfect!
